Clacton Camera club
20th December 2008
Thanks to Jean and Ron for inviting me to judge their Christmas competition. It was the first time I have judged or even witnessed a camera club competition and it was very enjoyable. At first when I was told I had to give comments and scores on each image that was projected I was a little nervous but this soon disappeared once we were under way.
Its never nice receiving criticism about your work but I hope I was able to point out positives as well as negatives! At the end of the day its only one persons opinion. Although I like all aspects of photography I have more expertise in some areas than others. I awarded a single 10/10 for an outstanding infra red landscape of Dedham church, a subject I have been unable to capture properly. It turned out it was taken by Ron so well done to him.
I was mighty close to giving a couple of others which turned out to have been taken by a long term friend of mine, Ken Royall.
Overall I was impressed with a lot of the work and it is great to see so many people enjoying the hobby.
